Representative Legal Matters
  • Acted for a major Korean food producer Paldo Co., Ltd in the matter involving seeking well-known status for its flagship ДОШИРАК (DOSHIRAK in Cyrillic) trademark used for instant noodles. It is the first case when a trademark has been recognized well-known in Russia in the absence of consumer awareness of the identity of the applicant.
  • Advised Mast-Jägermeister SE on trademark protection and opposition strategies of the client’s famous Stag Head device in Russia.
  • Successfully represented Scotch whiskey producers in the Chamber for Patent Disputes in the case of invalidating a third-party trademark confusingly similar to clients’ trademarks.
  • Provided Mary Kay with trademark portfolio management services, including advice on protection strategies, preliminary clearance, and trademark prosecution and enforcement in Russia and several neighbouring jurisdictions.
  • Acted for a major multinational brewing company in the matter involving complex negotiations with Rospatent (Russian PTO) over cancellation of a third-party appellation of origin of goods (AOG).
  • Represented an American multinational computer technology company in two court disputes involving non-use cancellation of trademarks owned by Russian Ski Association (RU) and by Russian Society of Appraisers (RU).
  • Handling a large project for a major Russian aluminium manufacturer, relating to international patenting. The scope of this project includes advising the client on patent prosecution and protection strategies in different countries.
  • Provided the Starbucks Corporation with trademark portfolio management services, including advice on protection strategies, preliminary clearance, trademark prosecution and enforcement.
  • Successfully represented a multinational FMCG company in its dealings with a former employee who had registered as a trademark in the name of his own new company a famous image that had been used by the client for hand creams.
  • Represented the interests of a multinational clothing company in the recognition of its trademark as a well-known trademark in Russia in relation to goods in Class 25 — clothing and footwear.
