Ekaterina Kudryavtseva specializes in tax law and is engaged in advising multinational clients on various tax issues, including domestic and cross-border, direct and indirect taxation. Ekaterina's focus areas of expertise are taxation of companies in the IT sector, including electronically supplied services, taxation of IP-rich companies, taxation in the FMCG and healthcare sectors.
Representative Legal Matters
  • Assisted several dozens of Russian and multinational companies in finding tax-efficient and compliant ways to navigate numerous regulatory restrictions imposed both by Russia and by other jurisdictions in 2022.
  • Assisted several dozens of multinationals, many of which are Fortune500 companies, on compliance with the Russian VAT regime on taxation of electronically supplied services both in B2B and B2C transactions.
  • Advised a number of FMCG and healthcare companies on various sales promotion structures, developed numerous internal policies and draft contractual documents in this area.
  • Provided detailed tax advice to a major international streaming service provider in connection with its entry into the Russian market in a partnership with a leading Russian media agency.
  • Advised one of the world's largest producers of entertainment content in structuring its operations in Russia in light of the Russian VAT regime for foreign vendors of electronically supplied services, deductibility of intercompany services and intragroup management reorganization.
  • Acted as a legal and tax advisor to a multinational producer of pharmaceuticals in connection with entering into a contract manufacturing agreement with a third-party Russian production company.
  • Acted as a tax advisor to a major international payment processing services provider on the issue of application of the Russian VAT regime for foreign B2B suppliers of value-added electronic services to the client's activities and preparation of full-fledged defense position for tax audit.
  • Advised a major pharmaceutical company on VAT issues arising in connection with switching to EAEU market authorizations.
  • Acted as a tax advisor to a multinational publicly listed manufacturer of optical equipment in connection with a beneficial ownership claim received by the client's Russian subsidiary from the Russian tax authorities.
  • Acted as a tax advisor to a major international manufacturer of apparel and personal care products in connection with restructuring relations with a Russian franchisee.
