Roman has extensive experience in successful defending clients' interests during pre-tax reviews and tax audits, including the preparation of reasonable and documented positions, support of tax control measures, negotiations with tax authorities, as well as administrative and judicial challenge of tax authorities' decisions. He has significant successful experience in the pre-trial settlement of tax disputes.
Roman leads projects on tax litigation support, including transfer pricing, as well as advising on complex Russian and international taxation and structuring issues.
Advised an international group of companies that manufactures and sells sportswear, footwear and accessories on the development of a position on the applicability of withholding tax, and on the procedure and amount of payment of this tax, in a situation where royalties for the use of intellectual property are included in the price of the goods, and exemption from withholding tax is not available due to the termination of the double taxation agreement between the Russian Federation and the Netherlands.
