Biography
Vladimir Belkov specializes in intellectual property matters since 1999 and has extensive experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications (he has personally drafted over 200 patent applications), consulting clients on various intellectual property issues concerning patent rights. Vladimir is a registered Russian Patent Attorney (for inventions, utility models, trademarks and appellation of origins) with the Russian PTO, Reg. No. 913, and a registered Patent Attorney with the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO), Reg. No. 307.

Representative Legal Matters
  • Succeeded in defending in the Chamber for Patent Disputes and the IP Court the Gilead Sciences’ Eurasian patent that protects its blockbuster combinatory medication Truvada, effective inter alia for the treatment of HIV. The IP Court ruled in favour of the client on a number of very complicated questions related to the interpretation of the Eurasian Patent Convention.
  • Successfully acted for Gilead Sciences in defending in the Chamber for Patent Disputes and the IP Court the Client’s Russian patent that protects its blockbuster medication Sovaldi (Sofosbuvir), effective for the treatment of hepatitis C.
  • Consulted a leading Russian chemical company on patent issues. Preparing, prosecuting and managing portfolio of patent applications in several jurisdictions.
  • Consulted a leading Russian atomic energy company on patent issues. Coordinating the project and managing portfolio of numerous patent applications in numerous jurisdictions.
