Vladimir Efremov specializes in international trade issues, sanctions and export control, customs and currency regulations, WTO regulation, direct and indirect taxation of domestic and cross-border deals, FCPA and compliance audits, product quality requirements and liability, and data cybersecurity issues. Vladimir also advises clients on effective strategies for entering and exiting the Russian market, and on compliance with Russian countermeasures.

Vladimir has headed a number of projects for the localization of foreign products and technologies, as well as ensuring their compliance with the criteria for «Made in Russia» status. In addition, Vladimir actively advises technology companies on IT regulatory issues in Russia.

  • Assisted a multilateral development bank with understanding the application, applicability and conformity with international sanctions targeting Russia in connection with the provision of debt financing to a major Russian company and two international financial institutions for implementing a number of significant infrastructure projects in Russia in the field of telecoms, water supply and transportation.

  • Represented a major Russian importer and manufacturer of agricultural products on customs self-disclosure submission related to VAT underpayments.
  • Represented a multinational distributor of heavy machines and equipment in a dispute with the Russian customs authorities concerning confirmation of a country of origin of imported products and application of anti-dumping duties.
